BURUNDI'S HEALTH SYSTEM IS UNDERDEVELOPED AND STILL LITTLE ACCESSIBLE TO THE GREAT MAJORITY FROM THE MOST PRECARIOUS CLASSES
The right to health is preparatory to the fight against poverty and offers the possibility of directing the way towards the objective of an integral development of the person.
The construction of the Health Center Sainte Marie-Josephe Rossello, now completed for a basic activity, highlights the health problems of a vast portion of the Burundian territory and the Archdiocese of Bujumbura.
The adaptation to qualified clinical functionality, the installation of suitable hospital equipment and the professional riqualification of nursing staff could represent a real qualitative leap : it would indeed be the definitive offer of this right to maternity, mother and child, hitherto denied, or exposed, in the best of cases, to the risks of a more complete vulnerability.
AT THE ORIGIN OF AN INNOVATIVE PROJECT:
The idea of developing an ambitious and decisive project finds its genesis from the meeting that Mr. Venuste Niyongabo, President of the nascent "VENUSTE NIYONGABO FOUNDATION", FVN, had with CATHORIC Sister Médiatrice Ndayisenga, Superior and Head of the Health Center Sainte Marie-Josephe Rossello at Kanyosha zone area , which occurred during her trip to Burundi in the summer of 2022.
Mr. Venuste Niyongabo, inspired by the solicitations of the Superior and Head CATHORIC Sister, Local, reinforced his belief that the medical personnel, although sufficiently qualified, would only be able to carry out basic surgical operations, if they could have access to equipment capable of developing an action of radiological diagnosis and analysis.
On his return to Italy, in Bologna, Mr. Venuste Niyongabo shared the idea with Mr. Fabio Gentile, President "Amici di Beatrice" ODV, noting the immediate acceptance of the purchase of medical equipment and the possibility of organizing experience sharing seminars as well as training sessions for health professionals.
